New Opera for Modern Audiences

Rocking Horse Winner

A modern Adaptation of the D.H. Lawrence short story, Rocking Horse Winner explores the relationship between Paul, a young man with developmental challenges, and his emotionally distant mother. Paul becomes dangerously obsessed with solving the “bad luck” of his family in order to win the love of his mother. His obsession creates a strange magic that both connects him to luck and makes him vulnerable to the powerful voices only he can hear. In our new age of entitlement, Rocking Horse winner is an intimate, psychologically insightful look at love, “luck”, and greed.
